An Opportune Breeze From The South East depicts four Big Class yachts racing off Dartmouth in August 1893 in a regatta organised by the Start Bay Yacht Club. During the late morning of the second day, an opportune breeze blew which enabled all four yachts to start racing. Britannia was eventually victorious, followed across the finishing line by Navahoe, Satanita and Calluna. The original painting of An Opportune Breeze From The South East by Steven Dews sold at a Sotheby's auction in 1998 for the outstanding price of £52,800.
